Francesca Eros

At the turn of the twentieth century Marcel Duchamp said "I point and it is art." In his doodling on a postcard of the most famous European painting to date, The Mona Lisa, Duchamp turned this adored portrait into an androgynous girl-with a mustache and stated L.H.OO.Q- "She has a nice ass."

Man Ray and Duchamp collaborated in a portrait series were Duchamp turned himself into a his female alter-ego Rrose Selavy, (Eros c'est la vie).

In a post-post-modern society, or a sort of "post-truth society" we see this kind of social schizophrenia happen all the time. Take a glance at anyone's facebook page and you will see a "real" person's alter-ego online. In collaboration with wardrobe and make-up from the New Paltz theatre department, and photographer Nick Alciati, I have also created for myself a female alter-ego...Francesca Eros.

She premiers on October third in the Rotunda of the New Paltz Fine Arts Building in a series of large scale digital and silkscreen prints. It's a bit more drag than Duchamp but I'm okay with sexual ambiguity. Please spread the word on this collaborative project and event and friend her on facebook.

Rotunda

Here's a link to my friend Joe reading some stream of consciousness that he painted on bent sheet metal to an improvisation of bass keyboard and drums. ridiculous? Yes. Listen to this with the woofer on high. We're working on the third installment of this type of video with Man Ray projections.

If you'd like to see more of Joe's work you can check out his youtube channel. I personally love this video that I have nothing to do with.

This video was on display at a show that I was also showing in at the Shirt Factory in kingston. It was the only time I've ever shown sculpture outside of school and probably my favorite show to date. I couldn't stop laughing at this video.

Ray

Some friends and I have created a twitter account for our buddy Ray. He has not posted to the twitter and in fact he is not allowed. The account is a place for us to post somewhat demeaning nicknames for him. I think that it's funny even if you have never met Ray or have no idea who Ray is. The potential for internet meme is there- i think.

DAWGG 3:16

HERE IS BY FAR (IN MY OPINION) THE BEST RECORDING OF MINE AND MY FRIENDS FROM SCHOOL'S SORT OF NOISE-Y BAND, BIGG DAWGG. IT CONSISTS OF ME PLAYING GUITAR, MY FRIEND NED PLAYING WITH A SYNTHESIZER AND A LITTLE TOY AMP, AND MY FRIEND PETER PLAYING SAXOPHONE. IT WAS RECORDED SLIGHTLY OVER A YEAR AGO. IT NEEDS TO BE PLAYED AS LOUD AS YOU POSSIBLY CAN PLAY IT, WHEN YOU ARE EXTREMELY DRUNK AND YOU HAVE TO LISTEN TO THE WHOLE THING...IT GETS REALLY GOOD BY THE END, IF YOU ASK ME, WHICH OF COURSE YOU DIDNT.

DAWGG 3:16
PLEASE DELETE "MAIN MAN" IF YOU DOWNLOADED IT. IT IS FINISHED NOW AND YOU CANT HEAR THE NEW VERSION UNTIL I FINISH THE REST OF THE TRACKS, BUT DELETE IT. JUST BECAUSE. IN FACT DELETE THE ELLIOTT SMITH ONE TOO. I DONT WANT YOU GUYS HAVING SOME SHITTY OUTDATED SHIT VERSIONS OF SONGS. ITS NOT SUCH A BIG DEAL, BUT YOU SHOULD, I THINK YOU WILL ENJOY THE FINISHED VERSIONS MORE IF YOU DO.

Feeding Paper Back Through an Hp Photosmart

This is an old print that I did for an exchange called "alphabet soup." Finally documented it. I lifted these images from these novel sized disposable manga and japanese magazines. It's crazy how these comics are made to be thrown out like a newspaper or something. It's not something that we really experience in the states. I went on to collage more of these comics with some pornographic imagery for photo-silk.

I guess I'm posting this because I have Japan on the mind given the recent tsunami. This print is small. 8 x 11.  It feel roughly like something that could have been popped out of a laser jet printer, and that's actually what my initial sketch is.
It's two photo litho plates and chine colle, which is french for "chinese collage." Just a fancy, pooper word for collage with a matrix because god forbid someone collages directly onto a print. I think I still have some of the prototypes laying around if anyone wants one, though the plates are gone.

Just Forget It EP

Here are a couple more songs from a while ago. I'm getting kind of sick of EPs and want to do a full length but I'll definitely need help from anyone who is willing to contribute. I'm working on really rough versions (like post it notes) of songs now and hope we can get better versions of new and old stuff done in the garage together. Here's this EP:

Just Forget It

Let me know what you think. Enjoy.

Dougie

What happens when you scan a photo at 90 dpi, separate it, print it out, photo copy, scan all four layers, then make transparencies and print it CMYK photo silk? You get a green Dougie. I actually wish that this image was less recognizable. Also, what happened to the magenta layer? Like, what did it do? I don't know...I don't know.

Re: My Giant Ass

by the way its me graham!

My Giant Ass

hey gays,
i have a bunch more coverz but i'm not gonna put any more up until the album is done. its gonna be mad long, which is exciting for me and boring for everyone else.
What I will put up is this album of three double-gitbox improvs that aaron and i recorded this summer in my room. it was so hot. soooo hott. remember how hot it was this summer?
so without any input or consideration from aaron, who is probably smoking dmt on the side of the road in a tent in houston as we "speak", here it is. two guitars, four hands, one of which (aaron's) also held a chopstick and a screwdriver (not at the same time).
because "sometimes you just gotta say 'what the fuck'" (Brickman, P. Risky Business, 1983).

blaaaaah this is taking so long to upload to mediafire. i'm really bored in a hotel in san diego. what else can I talk about.....i do all my bloggoposts in real time, try to keep things in perspective. for U. all 4 u guys.
....
90% there...
just a second. be patient.
well it says 100% now, but i think if it was really 100% i'd know, because it would be done.

i'm literally on the edge of my seat, which is crazy cause i'm lying in bed.

fiiiiiiiiiiiinally, GODDAMN.
sorry to keep you guys waiting for so long.

Late Valentines

So our print club organized some valentine's day sales for the holiday and I didn't really have time to make cards/I thought it was kind of stupid at first. But I designed these prints for it. One is a little narcissistic, and the other is cryptic and meant for nerds. Anyways, I didn't sell to many and editioned 18 of the first and 28 of the second. I figured you geeks might like these and/or actually pick up on the reference with the "i'm in love with me..." print. These don't really look like what I'm working on now, but if anybody wants one, since they kind of have a life to them larger than valentine's day, I'll give one to you for really cheap.

Simple Spit

Here's another EP.
It's pretty different.
Another Storm was inspired by Lee Krasner's painting by the same name, seen below:

It will be the score of a found footage film I'm working on. I'll put it up when it's done.
These songs are best enjoyed with some weed and a decent pair of headphones.
